Is it hard to set up an Expert Advisor?
No. You attach it to a chart, the same way you add an indicator, and switch on Algo Trading (AutoTrading in MetaTrader 4). Our installation guide walks you through it.
Do MT4 Expert Advisors work on MT5?
No. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 are separate platforms, so an MT4 EA does not run on MT5, and an MT5 EA does not run on MT4. Each card shows the platforms the EA runs on, and you choose your platform when you buy.
Can I test an Expert Advisor before I trade it live?
Yes. Press Ctrl+R in MetaTrader to open the Strategy Tester, choose the EA, the symbol, the timeframe and the dates, then click Start. Then run it on a demo account before you trade it on a live account.
Does my computer need to stay on?
Yes. An Expert Advisor trades only while MetaTrader is open and connected. To keep it running all day and night, use a VPS, a remote computer that never switches off. We use ForexVPS to host our own trading.
How much can I make with an Expert Advisor?
No one can promise a monthly return. The world’s top hedge funds make around 25 to 30% a year, so keep your risk and your expectations realistic.
Can I use these Expert Advisors in the MetaTrader app on my phone?
No. MetaTrader runs Expert Advisors only in the desktop version. You can still follow your trades in the phone app.
The settings that came with my EA no longer work well. What should I do?
Markets change, so settings optimized when an EA was released will not stay the best forever. Read our EA optimization guide to find the latest optimized settings.
What if the Expert Advisor does not suit my trading?
Within 30 days of your purchase, you can exchange it for another product at the same price or lower. If you choose a higher-priced product, you pay the difference.
